Ok so I know it's been awhile. I do apologize for that but I have a really good reason - I was being lazy. Well, not exactly lazy but just beat down. See, last time I fasted, after about the 4th day I basically went into this euphoria state where I felt awesome - lots of energy, head clear, no hunger. Basically I just felt all-around great.
This time has been different. From the beginning I've been pretty lethargic. At first, I kinda expected it - suddenly giving up coffee was surely a factor. But when the lack of energy didn't go away by the 5th day I wasn't quite sure what was going on. I also started getting pretty bad heartburn, which is weird because I haven't eaten anything. So I've basically been spending the last 5 days trying to figure out what the deal was.
I've come up with two possibilities and maybe it's a combination of both. Here's a tip - if you ever decide to go on a fast, do NOT, I repeat, do NOT eat steak of any kind the night before you start. I knew it wasn't a good idea per se, but I only ate a little. Well, that little but of steak rotted in my gut for the first 6 days. Without going into any details I'll just say it wasn't pretty. So I figured that might have been the problem. But I am still pretty lethargic and I think that can only be explained by my medication, the wonder drug, Enbrel. Part of Enbrel's job is to beat my immune system down a bit so it won't continue to attack my joints. Well, this causes my energy level to be somewhat decreased which is normally not a problem for someone who self medicates problems like those with copious amounts of caffeine and alcohol. Remove those two at-home remedies, and you've got a pretty worn out guy.
So the long and the short of it is - I wouldn't recommend eating steak before a fast or fasting while taking Enbrel. It basically makes you feel like this.
So on to the pics. Here are this mornings updates:
So as you can see, I'm down to 218 which is a total weight loss 21 pounds in 9 days. I guess if I wasn't such a fat ass when this whole process started you could actually see a difference. But then again that wasn't really the point. Just a nice side benefit ;-)
So I'm still fasting, even if I feel like I could kill someone. I thought about giving up but haven't. I kind of want to see this through to the 14 day since that is what I started out to do. It's kind of hard though when you are feeling like crap and the whole point of doing the damn fast was to feel good :-). But I must say that I can tell a difference in my joints which is good.
Alright then. Thanks for the comments - I appreciate all of them.
